How Many People In America Can Change Their Own Oil

  • #one

Hey all. I'm giving an informational speech for course on Fri on "How to alter your own oil" and we're required to do enquiry.

Does anyone know where I tin notice stats on how many people modify their own oil, vs dealer, vs quick-lube place?

I'm already planning to use Bob the Oil Guy to evidence a difference in filters.

Jeff, I always change 100% of the oil...wait, what was the question? Be sure to include the procudue of "priming the filter" in your speech. Nothing worse that putting on a dry out filter and starting the engine...ok, well except for forgetting to put in oil or installing the drain plug, etc.

Homo, I did a "google" search and in that location isn't anything at that place (did find an interesting article on the oil prices and why the oil companies are showing a huge profit:D). Possibly do a poll on hither and that can be used as a base of operations. Information technology won't be a "whole country" type ratio, only it would be a certain vehicle ratio.

I for one ever change my own. That way I know what was put in at that place.:D ;)

Type upwardly a questionaire and ask people. Effort to enquire l or 100 people for piece of cake percentages. You could postal service simple questions as a topic here and I'm certain a lot of u.s.a. volition answer. Ask classmates. You will have to diversify the people yous enquire considering the majority here volition say that they change their own oil.

Interviewing is inquiry, I do it all the fourth dimension for school.

ok...I found y'all some numbers that you can brainstorm to extrapolate with:

http://www.dec.state.ny.us/website/dshm/redrecy/oil.pdf

http://www.bts.gov/press_releases/2002/bts027_02.html

Take the numbers from the websites and compare them to the total sales of oil and sales of oil to/by oil change places...the idea being what is thrown out must be replaced. You tin can and then go a general crude percentage of oil sales that are used past practice-it-yourselfers and by industry.

Having written 100s of papers getting my caste in History, Logistics, and my MBA, having some numbers is better than nothing. Lack of data is ever a trouble. However, if you have annihilation, yous tin can always re-write the paper and/or hypothesis to say any y'all want it to with a little logic thrown in.

This is the Internet...just make upwardly a stat:

Informed sources estimate that every bit many every bit 18% of the United states car-owning population alter their own oil.

There, now you have read information technology on the interweb.
